About

Eat the Streets is bringing together people from all across our city to celebrate Dublin’s rich food heritage and the benefits of growing and eating local food. Healthy food gives us energy to play, to create and to discover! Living in a city it is easy to walk down to the shops and buy your favourite food any day of the week. But was it always this easy? And, will it always be this easy?

Did you know that Dublin has a rich vegetable growing tradition? Eat the Streets is exploring food growing from March to May, and asking people to share their experience and growing tips. We are inviting children and their families to send us recipes and food stories collected from their grandparents. Our chefs will then cook some of these recipes during our festival in June.

Our festival, which will be held from 11th-16th June, has an exciting line up of online events and self-guided activities for all the family. It will bring together chefs, food experts, growers, and producers to cook, to create and to discover our rich food history and talk about our city's food future.

Our chefs will amaze you with their twists on family favourites that you have shared us during our weekend cook-alongs. There will also be After Dinner Chats to share ideas and talk about the future of food. Eat the Streets takes a look at how to make most use of your food, using simple delicious recipes and exploring new techniques like pickling or preserving.

Taking care of the planet for the future begins in the kitchen. So, let’s explore our roots by growing, cooking, creating and discovering together!
